J.alexanders Restaurant Memphis, TN

aside from the the food being fairly edible, i was rather disappointed! bathrooms a mess, and while sitting at the far corner of the restaurant i notice a small rodent run across the floor. now certainly sometimes these things are out of the control of management, however, when i saw it again, that same night, but running a different direction, i decided that will now go back to Houston's on poplar ave. sure the people are friendly at J.alexanders, but little mickey, as i will refer to him, just ruined my appetite. anyways, try it for yourself, and keep an eye out, not to mention i have gone there before, only to notice that the health inspection at times was hard to find and had a varying score. but, thats my opinion and and try it for yourself. i wont go back, and tahts too bad because they did have a great burger! but i find Houston's offers a similar product that does have a higher quality burger bun. FYI the burger is not what i ordered on this particular evening. but portions are large and if you just want fast/good food, go there.

Our Go-To Place

So I know Im not cooking, but where do we want to go? 9/10 times we end up at J. Alexanders. The atmosphere is perfect - dark wood, dim lighting. The food is very good. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only out of respect for places like Erling Jensens. Still, the food is yummy. The prime rib, crab cakes, fish sandwiches and even cheeseburgers are delicious! If you can catch them on a day that they have their smoked salmon dip for an appetizer, get it! The bartender makes a perfect Cosmo and the mac & cheese is so good.

Amazing Food

My husband and I stopped by for a Sunday lunch. He ate half of a very delicious chicken and I had an amazing Prime Rib. We spent the rest of the day (ok, the week) telling everyone we saw how much we enjoyed it. We both also had the Potato Soup which was possibly the best Potato Soup I may have ever had... The service was very good as well.

Classy

My fiance and I were on vacation and stopped at Alexander's for dinner. He had been there before but I had not. He wanted to treat me and it was a wonderful vacation treat! Comfortable atmosphere, ample attention, and the food was delicious - the presentation, freshness, and preparation were all superb. We went to the Memphis/Germantown location and we live in Little Rock. We'll be back!!

Great salad... ask for less croutons... and the BEST 1000 Island anywhere. Great Steak Maui Ribeye... great ribs. Wonderful service. Long waits, so go early.

I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GREAT SERVICE HERE . THIER RIBS ARE THE BEST . THE GRILLED LIME CHICKEN IS GREAT , SPECIALLY WITH THE WONDERFUL GARLIC SMASHED POTATOES . A FEW OF MY FRIENDS FAVORITE IS THE RATTLESNAKE PASTA .

Like to watch your chef?

At this restaurant you can watch them cook your food then go to the bar for a drink or get a table in the low-lighted, cool, chic dining area. All their food is scrumptious but their steaks are PERFECT. When you go...do NOT pass up the spinach con queso dip.

• Cons: exceptional service, NICE bathrooms, a little pricey!

j alexanders servers up delightfully tasty dishes. They also have something for everyone. whether it be a juicy hamburger to a wonderully gilled to perfection catch of the day or just a appetizer the menu serves it all. They also have have a wonderful atmosphere and great decor.

Great food and atmosphere

Great food. The dinner salad is the best I have ever had. They have a great prime rib too.

If you have 4 or less people in your party you can call ahead to have your name put on the list. However, they will not do reservation for larger parties for events such as an office Christmas party.
