The Scene
The National Ornamental Metal Museum, the first of its kind in the country, showcases the artistry of metalworkers from around the world. Located in a historic hospital overlooking the Mississippi River, the museum features a series of galleries on two creaking hardwood floors.

The Best
Whether it's jewel-encrusted knives, intricate gold jewelry, or decorative teapots and other functional vessels, the artwork is of the highest caliber. Pork barbecue cookers are among the more whimsical items shown at the museum--and they're put to use each spring during the May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.

The Rest
In October, the museum hosts its popular Repair Days fundraiser, when the public is invited to bring their metal tools and objects for sharpening and/or dent removal.
