Great late night stop
by Connor03
I've been several times for dinner or just drinks. It's been great every time. Haven't tasted a bad thing on the food menu. Fun place for a girl's night out!!!
Different but not award winning at all
by mammfissmangonewild
My experience was the food was average to above average for the area, but if Cielo was located in areas such as Atlanta, Charlotte or even Tampa, I'd give it 6 mos, the problem is no real competition or a bunch of people who really know their food in Memphis, plainly it's 'good' for what Memphis has to offer', which ain't much, but I'll say it's worth a try, but if you travel beyond the MidSouth or moved here from any other knowledgeable 'food city', you, no doubt will yawn
Absolutely Delicious!

My husband and I ate at Cielo for our first wedding anniversary last weekend. The food was wonderful!! I was also impressed because they let us bring in the top tier of our wedding cake and served it to us after the dinner. The setting was very romantic as well. I would highly recommend Cielo for any special evening!
- Pros: Wonderful food, Friendly waitress, Romantic
- Cons: Spendy (but worth it)
Update on Cielo
by Rossicat
An update on this restaurant: one year later. well, we went back as promised and unfortunatly our experience this time was not as pleasant. It took forever to get our food. there were six of us and no one got an appetizer. it took 2 1/2 hours for soup and entree to be served. food was great, service was average. we will not be back
- Pros: Great Food
- Cons: Parking limited, kitchen slow
Romantic - YES

The food (being French) is served in small portions, but it tastes GREAT. The service is wonderful and the staff will even give you the small history of the old Victorian home it's located in. Beautiful atmosphere!
- Pros: wonderful food, romantic, fun
- Cons: parking, pricy, small portions
Great - but not on Valentines Day
by musthaveit
This is a great little gem of a restaurant - but not on Valentines Day! I went on Valentines Day and the service was very slow, it was waaay overcrowded - not so romantic. Every other time that i have been though was wonderful. The food and the service is exceptional.
- Pros: fantastic food, ambiance, good little bar
- Cons: parking, not on Valentines Day, not on Valentines Day
A Definite MUST in Memphis
by anne_m
I found this restaurant on this website, and the most positive review did not do it justice! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday in September 2004, and I was not an ounce disappointed. Every dish is creative and delicious...each appetizer and main dish melts in your mouth. The mood of the restaurant makes you feel like you are starring in an old movie. I would recommend sampling ALL the desserts. You probably want to make a reservation on the weekends. A bit chilly in the summer...bring a cartigan, ladies.
- Pros: Out of the Ordinary, Reasonably priced, Appropriate portions
great for groups, too.

yes, this restaurant is incredibly romantic, and the house/neighborhood lend itself well to that. however, i thought that i would mention, this is also a really good place for large groups, too. a couple of years ago, about 10 of my friends and our dates, reserved the 2nd floor for a saturday night dinner. (the only smoking area, btw) it was such an intimate, relaxing, wonderful night! there was a dining room, lounge, and bar all for us. atmosphere and service were excellent!
I adore this restaurant!

Cielo is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Memphis. It is hidden gem located in a charming, sophistocated and elegant old house in the Victorian Village. The daily menu is limited, but diverse and constantly changing. The chefs are so talented, I doubt you could go wrong with any selection. Be sure to try an exotic wine or beer to go with your meal. While it is my top choice to celebrate any special occassion, it is most suitable for a romantic dinner.
- Pros: exquisite dishes, beautiful atmosphere
- Cons: expensive, hard to find
Creative cuisine, bold decorating and a historic location make this a heavenly dining experience.

The Scene
Walking up to this Victorian mansion, you'd expect a lace-and-doily decor. Once inside Cielo, the plush comfy chairs, cobalt-blue lights, gold-leaf ceiling and baby grand piano in the mezzanine transport you to a funkier era. Candles flicker in three intimate dining rooms, while well-dressed foodies sip wine and groove to soft, jazzy music.
The Food
It's a virtual world tour of flavors. Seasonal changes enhance the eclectic menu, although seared foie gras, grilled sea bass and beef tenderloin are almost always available. Roasted garlic vinaigrette douses warm bread and fresh mozzarella salad. Tender lamb, roasted tomatoes and tahini pack a tangy punch. Wild mushroom risotto, baby bok choy or spinach-shiitake dumplings pair well with their main dishes. A diverse wine list plays into the varied theme, featuring everything from Riesling to pinot noir.
