Don't do it!!

Everyone seems to have good reviews about this place so maybe I just caught them on a bad day. With that said...the hair cut I received was terrible. TERRIBLE. I asked for a touch up on my layers with no length taken off other than what was necessary and I walked out with butchered, uneven hair that was three inches shorter and substantially uneven on each side. I had to go to another salon the next day and have it "fixed" - meaning may hair that was previously shoulder length had to be cut almost to my chin to even out the damage. It took about 5 months of work with my new stylist to get the length back with the style I had asked for in the first place. I am not the type who hates every hair style I get and I have no problem asking a stylist to fix something I'm unhappy with. However, I didn't want her to touch my hair after that and I certainly wasn't going to have her attempt a fix. The staff was very pleasant but I will never step foot in there again. Be careful!

Lambeth was GREAT!

Being a newcomer to the city of Memphis I have been looking for a while to find a place where I could go get my hair cut. I have been looking since right after Christmas and have had one bad experience with a salon WHOM I WILL NOT NAME. I ran across a matchbook with their phone number on it and gave them a call seing as how there was no way in hell i was going back to the last place I had the DISSpleasure of going to. When i called the first time I didn't recieve an answer, but i waited about fifteen minutes and gave it a second try and Andrea (can't remember if that's correct) answered the phone and was MORE than polite, and willing to scedule me an appointment. I told her I could be there in fifteen minutes and she said I was on the books and could come on in. when I got there I was greeted warmly by the girl behind the counter and was aked to take a seat seeing as how i was early and the stylist was busy with her previous client. I waited about fifve or six minutes and was then taken to the chair and COMPLETELY catered to. The stylist (lambeth) asked me what I wanted to have done and followed the directions TO A TEE! "And that aint easy given my untold amount of COW LICKS! LOL" i told her about my previous experience I had had with the other salon and was assured that I was not the first to have a bad experience. She kept the conversation flowing and made me completely comfortable wile in the shop. WHICH WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL DECORATED! Very rarely do you find both in the same location LOL! After she finished I paid the "gal" behind the counter and was on my way. Getting out of the parking lot was a little tough, but given the professional service I recieved in the shop I did not mind. I would recomend this shop a million times over and would let anyone who is in the area know that Lambeth does a great job!

WOW

I called at about 4:15 on a Saturday afternoon and she was able to work me in. Then, I got there and had no idea what I wanted. She was able to create a look that I love and I get constant compliments!!! And, I had fun the whole time I was there. What a great place!!!!!

WAY OVER-RATED!!! I found this salon on here on city search, and read how fabulous it is. My experience, however tells a different story. The woman who answered the phone was abrasive from the beginning. I asked for Amber who I read so many reviews about, and was told she no longer worked there, but they would "take care of me". I fell for it and made an appointment. Forget the parking, the service was lacking. The owner seemed rude and scary. It was dark and desolate, and I didn't feel like we were on the same page! well I should have spoke up, because I paid 200 bucks for an uneven boring haircut, and bleached out highlights. what a nightmare. Trust ME! You don't want to waste your money or time here!!!!!

• Pros: easy midtown location
• Cons: terrible customer service. bad hair outcome. terrrible hours. scary location

Memphis' Best Kept Secret

I went here to get my hair cut and colored before my wedding and Rebecca did such a wonderful job that I've been singing her praises ever since. She discusses what you want the moment you sit down in her chair and she actually listens and knows what I mean when I say "NOT PLATINUM BLONDE!" My haircut was also so perfect. She fixed what another girl messed up and I looked like a million bucks on my wedding day. Can't wait for her to make me beautiful again!

• Pros: Great service, great skill, fun stylists

My haircut was a little less than a year ago. I was new to the city and recommended by a friend to see the owner (I think it was Rebecca) at Cloud 9. The reviews online were great so I thought I'd give it a try. Her client scheduled before me came late (after I was already there) and work with that client first, so I wasn't started until 45 mins after my scheduled appointment. I have a lot of patience so I wasn't upset when it was finally my turn. Unfortuately my experience only got worse. She would ask me questions about my hair then cut me off before I could answer. She ignored anything I told her only later to imply that she should have listened. While cutting my hair she was very rude to her front desk worker. I've never seen anyone treat an employee like that in front of customers. After she had finished my hair looked aweful. My layers were very uneven and blotchy. It was the worse haircut I've ever had. It's the only time I can remember ever leaving a hair salon unhappy.

• Pros: The other hairstylist and front desk worker were friendly
• Cons: long wait, rude owner, lack of listening, horrible haircut

for all my cyber friends, i wanted to share with you a wonderful experience that has made my confidence soar. my new beauty secret is Amber at Cloud 9. A friend refered her to me. The end result was amazing, I almost didn't recognize myself, and it took a little getting used to my update, but wow. My husband says it's the best my hair has ever looked, and my friends compliment me now. She colored my eyebrows and waxed them, which gave me a mini face lift. I never had anyone cut my hair like she did. It now has so much texture, and makes my job styling it so much easier. Thank heavens. She is a perfectionist, and she took her time with me, unlike other stylists who rush through my appointment and leave me disappointed and confused. I'm so pleased. Make sure and give yourself some time. It's worth it.

best custom hair ever

i have to admit, i was a bit nervous, but had many friends refer Amber to me at Cloud 9. She took the time to actually consult with me and discuss what i didn't like about my hair. i had just lost my stylist of many years because she moved out of town, so i was okay with the way it was, but i definitely wasn't getting compliments. Until Now. I'm blown away. Amber gave me more than I was looking for. She cuts hair wet then texturizes it when it's dry, which really helped me have more of a style with texture, rather than a cut, and my color looks like something that slipped off a celebrity's head. Amber took her time with me, and that, I absolutely appreciated. She customized my haircut and color, and now all i get is compliments

Worst place!!!

I have short hair and I always have a tough time finding good hairstylists when I move to new places. This place is a total dissapointment. I dont believe I went and got a haircut at this place. It was one of the worst haicut I have got so far and the most expensive one!!! And the end result was really dissapointing. Take my opinion and choose another place.

BEST SALON I have found in MEMPHIS!!

I spent the day at Cloud Nine getting everything done as a gift from my Husband. AMBER cut and highlighted my hair....I was ready for a change. Well Amber did it for me and did a FANTASTIC job. I just LOVE it.

Courtney did my manicure and pedicure.....wow what a treat not to be rushed through.......and also a FANTASTIC job!

I also got a massage, facial and spray tan. Not only do I look like a NEW WOMAN I feel like one too....

All the service was great they are all so friendly they make you feel right at home. I couldnt think of a better way to spend my day or a better group of people to spend it with. Definitely a place I will be glad to go back too.

Amber's Hair Design! Wow!!

Amber anwered the phone when i called cloud nine one day and made me feel like I was going to get a great service when I went in to this new Salon. Well I did indeed. I had heard she was an "Artist of Hair design" from a friend, and my girlfriend was correct. My entire time with Amber was what I call a "Wow!" She made me feel like a million dollar's, and I left looking like she said I would on the phone. I was so pleased, I can't say enough!! I'm so thankful my girlfriend told me about Amber. She had her training in New York and Chicago which made all the difference. The only hard thing was the parking out front. But the service far out weighed that. I highly highly recommend Amber to anyone needing an amazing trustworthy stylist who knows her stuff. Finally someone who has it together. Thanks Amber!!! I'll be back!!!

• Pros: Amber know's the value of a customer! She know's her product's!
• Cons: Parking is not so great, but it's worth having Amber
