I used to live in the area. Visited Osaka the first week they were open and came back once a week. Moved to NC then back again. Now live in NE Shelby co but continue to visit both Cordova and Collierville locations. Outstanding value, service and food. Best when compaired to the other competators. Small is what makes Cordova the best!
- Pros: Best value in Sushi and such
- Cons: small..but that is a plus too!

I live about 5 minutes away from Osaka, right near Rain and Wassabi. Rain is still new but Wassabi has been around for a while. I like Osaka's food but the place is so small I find myself avoiding it. if you place a take out order, there is literally no place inside to stand. If you stand near the cash register and the closest table has people sitting at it your butt will be about 6 inches away from someone's face.
The one in collierville is much bigger and I enjoy going there when I get the chance. They really need to move this location or tear down a wall and expand.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Size of this location is too small

If you enjoy coming to a restaurant where the waitress remembers how you liked your food ordered. If she "knows" that you enjoy a certain drink and already has it in hand when greeting you. And she can recommend mixing certain dishes based on what she knows you like. Then ask for Tini. She works at Osaka #2 in Collierville, Tn. She is from Indonesia and has the best personality of any asian waitress I have ever met.
The dining choices are the suishi bar and habachi. (Upscale Japanese New Restaurant...)
Don't forget to ask for Tini !!
- Pros: Tini the waitress !!!
- Cons: Not getting to sit in Tini's section !!!
Not the best but not that bad

First of all, this review is still in the making; I plan to visit once more and make a more thorough review.
I found the interior of the restaurant to be overdone, though this seems to be the standard for many Japanese restaurants outside of Japan.
I was not very pleased with the Sake selection and am certainly not a fan of Sake cocktails. However, this restaurant should suffice for beginners to Japanese liquor. I believe the cause of this problem lies more with the major distributors than with Osaka, as distributors will only stock profitable areas. So unless you are able to purchase Sake on-line or have a "hook up," your thirst shall remain unquenched.
With regards to the food, my only complaint is the karaage, though I am not very pleased with the selection. For cost reduction purposes, so I was told, a 50/50 mixture of white flour and katakuriko, a starch harvested from the corn of the Katakuri or Erythronium japonicum (en wikipedia org/wiki/Erythronium_japonicum) is used in frying the chicken. This dramatically reduces the flavor and texture of the dish. For that reason, the karaage should either be taken off the menu or the price should be increased so that 100% katakuriko can be utilized.
The sushi and sashimi selection is great and some dishes are seasonal. Osaka is perhaps one of the better restaurants offering vinegared rice and raw fish. I would only advise that pregnant women and young children the elderly do not eat the raw fish as there has been an increase in mercury found in larger species like Tuna.

The staff at Osaka are top rate and kind.
Although I would prefer a greater emphasis on Japanese cuisine as opposed to American style Japanese cuisine, Osaka has great potential for improvement if they want to please the more critical eaters. If you are a beginner to Japanese cuisine, Kanpai and Happy Eating!
- Pros: Parking, Service, Ambience
- Cons: Food and Sake Selection, Karaage
One of the best

This is a WOW sushi i ever had before. Great Chefs!! especially the sushi. Fishes are fresh and tasty. They have so many sushi rolls, and the spicy sauces are really good.
