If you want great service then stay at the Madison Hotel.. The Madison Hotel in Memphis was the best hotel experience that I have ever had. I’ve stayed at other 4-star hotels and B&B’s, but the Madison Hotel has the best service by far. There were four of us total with two to a room. Both us of got Queen Bankers rooms which are small rooms, however they made a good use of the space. The bathroom was quite spacious and the pedestal sink had plenty of real estate for two people. The twice daily housekeeping is a nice touch. We loved coming back from dinner to find our bed turned down with ice waiting in the bucket and chocolates on the pillows. They also turn the CD player on when they do turndown and move the TV remote to the table next to the bed. It’s all the little things that were really cool for me. I’ve had turn down services before, but never to this level. The rooftop patio truly is the best view in Memphis. The view out over the river at sunset is breathtaking, and night is beautiful in its own way. The Mezzanine was also a nice place to sit and have a drink the second night when it was cold and rainy. It looked out over the lobby and there is a good music mix so it had a really chill vibe. The free breakfast is served at Grill 83 their restaurant. They don’t have a ton of choices, but it’s tasty and it’s free. The staff is what really puts it over the top. They remembered us every time we saw them. They would ask things like if we wanted tea since we had tea the day before. They also mentioned how good their restaurant was, but didn’t push it on you. They always smiled and were just genuinely nice. I will say the valet parking is a little slow, but really I don’t think it could be any better. The blocks in downtown Memphis are small and the staff does the best it can with the available space. In closing, if you ever find yourself in Memphis, a stay at the Madison is a must!

Made us feel at home. My husband and I had to endure the ordeal of trying to find a hotel at the last minute, when the original reservation booking outfit I went thru, NEVER sent the reservation thru to our original hotel pick in Memphis. Thankfully, with the help of staff of the original Hotel, my husband & I were directed to the Madison. Where we found the most gracious staff. From the Valets, front desk staff (Stacey), all the wait staff to housekeeping!WeI have never been treated so warmly. I have been to numerous Hotels in Vegas, New Orleans, Boston, etc. and the Madison Hotel staff are hands down the BEST! I hope this note will somehow get to the 'powers that be' and the staff members that were on duty the dates of 7/15/10 thru 7/18/10 get a well deserved GREAT JOB!

Poor communication, and now insults. We had communication issues from the start, but the rooftop view was key to our trip. Check in was easy but the rate was wrong, concierge was never on their game. Details were missed and dropped, and for a surprise for my wife, I ended up making all types of calls - making excuses to step away. The suite, yes suite, was tiny. Not small... TINY. For $300, it should be decent. Far from it. It was two small areas about 8x10 with a closet and bathroom in the middle. The bellman did not come for check out service, the car was not pulled up - yet I paid handsomely for valet and tipped very well. Never got the final bill, but got overcharged and had to send several emails to get a reply. You could not pay me to stay there again.

Since posting this on another travel site, I have been contacted and insulted by the managing partner of the facility. What a great way to win customers over, don't you think?

Excellent service and reasonable rates. My husband and I stumbled upon this hotel while driving around downtown looking for a hotel that wasn't completely booked. We were so lucky! The staff was nice and friendly, even by southern standards, and service was also very prompt. Housekeeping did a large load of laundry for no cost except gratuity, and delivered it speedily. The hotel pays homage to the rich musical history of the town (Elvis is from here and delta blues is woven strongly into its very fabric), and a baby grand piano sits in the lobby for guests to play freely, which we took advantage of for a half hour. There is also a nice bar on the premises, and though we did not get a chance to dine at the restaurant, we heard it was fantastic. Did I mention the cost was very reasonable? This is one boutique hotel that we will seek out fervently the next time we visit Memphis, as should any other visitor looking for a nice hotel in Downtown Memphis.

poor customer service. I never actually stayed at the Madison, and I never will. I attended a conference in Memphis and had difficulty securing a hotel room for the entire duration of the stay. I pieced together reservations at two places, the Madison one of them. The other hotel had a cancellation, so I called the Madison to cancel the one-night reservation--well within the time frame allotted for changing reservations without penalty. The Madison staff never cancelled the reservation, despite multiple calls to confirm the arrangement. I was charged the full rate for a night I never spent at the hotel. Staff was, at first, unresponsive; then, downright nasty. They refused to rectify the problem. The manager was the nastiest of all--incredibly rude.

A wonderful week end Getaway from a near by town.. Fantastic, confortable surroundings and responsive service. The staff recommended Rahcel's Spa which was within a few steps of the hotel. The four of us are well travelled in the US and internationally and have been to several 5 star spas and we all ranked Rahcels' massages, facials, etc ranked among the best. And, The prices were so reasonable.

Great Boutique Hotel. This is a brand new really euro cool hotel with fabulous service. If you want to stay at an upscale luxury boutique in downtown Memphis this is definitely the place. They also have a great rooftop with the best view of the sunset over the river.
