I don't get it. I've only been there a couple of times. The food was mediocre. Don't count on the customer always being right here. The servers will argue with you if you complain. My husband wanted cheese sauce but got melted cheese. The waiter refused to see a difference in the two. My neighbor's child ordered rice but got fries. They did bring him rice but charged them for both fries & rice. Another neighbor said they refused her gift certificate without explanation. And the lady who grooms my dog said someone in her family got into an argument with the waiter then the police showed up and arrested him. When he went to court, he found out that several people had been arrested for complaining too loudly there. I just don't get why they are still in business.

Bad Experience. We have enjoyed the restaurant, food and prices for several years - until today. The service was very SLOW, and the food was just terrible. I ordered chicken fjita Nachos and received a plate of chips with white cheese sauce and some hard, crusty pieces of chicken on it! This restaurant used to be so busy that you had to wait every time you came in. Today, servers were sitting at the tables talking. And STILL we waited for over 15 minutes to get our check. They have lost our business.

just awful. Some of the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Good Mexican should be fresh and vibrant. I do not know why the locals rave about El Porton - perhaps they have never had good Mexican to make a comparison? This is a chain to avoid in the Memphis area.
