Every time I have done business here everyone has been helpfull. I can buy parts here at reasonable prices. I like the atmosphere of a small hardware store.

Colonial Hardware, Inc. 6140 Macon Road, Memphis, TN 38134. Dropped off broken lawn mower on 05/30/2012. Paid $21.85 for inspection fee and left place of business with the perception that I would be given a call with diagnosis and recommendation for service. Sales associate on receipt: Graylin. Received a call at 8am on 06/01/2012 that lawn mower was repaired and ready for pick- up. Upon arrival I was met with a balance of $86.73. Explained to associates that I never received a call to go ahead with service and that I never would have agreed to pay $108.58 to service a ten year old mower. They explained that it is their policy to automatically repair the mower if the parts and labor do not exceed $100. The charge before tax was $99.34, which I find suspect. There was no mention of this policy, no sign and no form, literature or documentation to support this supposed policy. Had they called me, I would not have agreed to the fee, accepted the loss of $20 for the inspection and picked up my broken mower. Every member of the staff I spoke with handled this situation very unprofessionally, all the way up to the owner of the store. One woman kept saying that I was just trying to get something for free. I asked for all their names and they refused and one man left shouting expletives at me from the other side of the counter. I paid the balance and left very dissatisfied. Buyer beware! COLONIAL HARDWARE on Macon Road employs nothing but conniving charlatans and philistines. They are scam artists and I beg you to never patronize that establishment. They swindled $108 from me for a simple lawn mower repair. My severe indignation was only met with utter condescension. Pass this along......they are the worst!

No service. Arrogant employees.. Traveled to store at 8am this morning to have key cut. Old man sitting at register drinking coffee said employee who cuts keys would not be in till 9. Stated he was "overqualified".

Great Service. This is the place to find most small engine parts. I had a hard to find Briggs and Stratton Air Filter and they had it in stock! Great Service.

ANOTHER ARROGANT SMALL ENGINE SHOP. As if we didnt have enough arrogant small engine shops, it seems eveytime I need a mower or trimmer repaired I am treated like a second hand citizen. The talk is rough and and short and the customer is treated as a nusiance. At Colonial they take it over the top they may get to your mower or weed eater and are doing you a favor by doing so and will gladly let you know it. I beleive we suffer this fate in Memphis due to the lack of small engine repair shops. There is one in Bartlett and I guess a couple more but I don't know where. These folk especially the old man who owns the place is a top rate..ahole..even if everyting is going perfectly his way he still acts like hes constipated. This shop would have fit nicely next to Guns and Ammo on Summer every gun owner knows the story there as it is famous for its arrogance and rudeness again no real competition for them. The only bright light in this shop is the mechanic named Buck who actually acts like a human being and takes time to talk to you. Maybe someone will open up a church at pro bass whick is next to this place and this family ownede business couold go there on Sunday they sure could use a dose
