Just OK. My boyfriend and I are looking for the best BBQ pizza in Memphis. We thought maybe Colettas would be good but we were kind of disappointed. Pete and Sams is much better and actually so is Elfo's in Germantown. Its just boring and no flavor...and the spaghetti with meatballs was a disappointment also. We went to the Appling Way Colettas. The place is nice. The hostess nice, the waitress was great, the food is just blah!

Below average food. My family is new to the memphis area and are looking for new favories, and after recommendations we headed to Coletta's. Big Mistake

There is nothing that positively stood out from our dining experience. The apetizer sampler was made up of mozzarella sticks (this is bar food, not italian) some garlic toasts with melted cheese (soggy and dripping with oil/butter) and toasted ravioli filled with what we called "mistery meat" since we could not tell weather it was chicken, beef, or pork that it was filled with....it was this aweful greenish brown color...

The food was not great either, the marinara sauce that they claim is homemade is clearly out of a jar as it tastes incredibly similar to either prego or ragu with mushrooms!

The sangria was a joke as it was served with a scoop of some kind of berry ice-cream inside the wine glass!! Where in Italy is this normal? Our waitress actually came up to tell us that the sangria was taking so long because the bartender was out and someone else was making the sangria so that it was "fresh".....uuuhhhmmm sangria is not to be made on the spot, it is supposed to sit with the fruit (theirs didn't have any) and spices for at least a couple of hours to get the right flavors!

Overall, this is not a place I would go back to or recommend to anyone (anyone I like that is)

I will continue my search for an authentic Italian restaurant in Memphis.... this was a joke

Restaurant just fair. The service in the bar is always the best but the food is only fair. I've learned to stick with the chicken caesar salad and garlic bread. They are well known for the bbq pizza but I have had much better at other Memphis restaurants. Good for a group of people to get together for a light snack but I would not recommend taking everyone to eat.

A family tradition. My family has been enjoying Coletta's excellent food and friendly service since we first visited the original location on Parkway. Now, the Appling Rd. staff serve up traditional Italian food and innovative drinks. Jackson and Tim in the bar make us feel at home. (Try the eggplant parmesan...no place else does it better!)

Big portions, homemade sauces and a trademark BBQ pizza make this family-style Italian eatery a delight.. The Scene

The exterior is rather ordinary, but inside, large motif rooms create a warm atmosphere. Roman accents surround a bubbling fountain under a sky-painted dome in one room, another is filled with a rich selection of historical photographs and Memphis memorabilia. Coletta's seems to beckon for a dressier crowd, but multi-tot families and teens in flip-flops are welcome.

The Food

Straightforward, hearty fare since 1923. Soft, tear-ready bread is ushered to every table, but zesty foccacia, full of garlic, wakes up the taste buds. Starters like tortellini soup with fresh vegetables are rich and comforting and the salads are crisp. The barbecued pork pizza is a true favorite: Succulent pork, shredded and covered in sweet, house marinara sauce sits atop a cheesy pie. It's the best of both worlds--Memphitalian. Other pasta specialties, like the creamy chicken Alfredo, are consistent and filling. Homemade cannoli, filled with sweet cheese, cherries, chocolate and almonds, can't be beat.
