The Best Romantic Dinner in Memphis. This is my favorite place to eat in town, and only part of that has anything to do with the food. First of all, its a coursed meal so it takes awhile. If you plan on having all four courses, Cheese, Salad, Meat, and Desert, then plan on staying for at least two hours. This is not the type of meal that your in a rush to complete. The attraction of a place like this is the atmosphere and intimacy. The lighting is low the tables allow a good deal of privacy and the nature of the meal means a lot of communal sharing and the pace of the dinner means a lot of time for conversation. The wait staff is incredibly attentive and the know the intricacies of the menu inside and out. Ask them questions about everything you order and they will give you all the information you could possibly desire. One of the best things about this place is the sauces for the meat course. They make up all the sauces for the meat course fresh. Ask what your server likes the best and have them bring out as many different ones as you want, and ask which sauce pairings work best with each type of meat. I recommend the curry sauce and the peppercorn gravy. It is a very romantic place, but I would not recommend it for Valentines day unless you are going to shell out A LOT of cash. I spent about 300 bucks on a V-Day there because for the entire V-Day weekend they don't have their regular menu up, but a special Valentines course. It is exceptional and includes a lot of high quality food, but its pricey. It also includes some perks like a flower for your lady, champagne, and a gift bag and a picture taken together. The drinks here are excellent, but the wine list here is possibly the best in town. If you are a wine drinker this is the restaurant for you, and they will work hard on paring the perfect wine for your meal.

It's hip to dip at this cozy fondue-lover's paradise.. In Short
Booths equipped with tabletop fondue pots are clustered together inside the intimate dining room. Start with a cheese fondue, including an assortment of breads, veggies and fruits for dipping. Entrees include lobster, center-cut filet, fish, chicken and vegetarian selections served with a variety of dipping sauces. For dessert, try the flaming turtle, a mix of chocolate and caramel flambéed tableside, served with nut-covered marshmallows, fresh fruit, pound cake, brownies and cheesecake.

A Very Sexy Place. My husband and I have been to the Melting Pot three or four times now, and we have loved it every time. A great "date" restaurant, the lighting is soft, and the seating is designed to be quiet and private (the best seating, we think, is in the small booths for two in the back...these are tucked into corners so you sit closer together and can cuddle a little). Eating here is an extremely romantic and sensual experience-- the food is brought to you in bite-sized pieces that you cook yourself at the table, so sight, touch, and smell are just as important as the great taste. Don't be surprised if you find yourselves sharing a bottle of wine from the restaurant's excellent wine list and feeding each other these exquisite morsels by candlelight...a wonderful start to a sexy evening for two!

A little overpriced. This restaurant is fairly good overall, but it is a little overpriced. Also, I thought that the choice of music could be a little bit better, they could play jazzy stuff every once in a while. Loud music can obstruct the romantic and private environment created by dim lights and private setting.

Thank You Melting Pot. All I can say is this restaurant is just what Memphis needs. I wanted to take my husband somewhere special to celebrate our engagement, so I started asking around at the office when someone suggested The Melting Pot. When I made me reservations, the man on the phone, asked me if there was anything that I would be celebrating that evening. I told him about our engagement, and he seemed so interested in what I had to say. When we arrived we were seated at a nice private table, and the service and food was outstanding. As we left the building. the manager thanked us, and to my suprise there were balloons and a nice note tied to our car. I just can't stop raving about it. All you other restaurants could learn a thing or two from these guys.

Great for couples and groups. I have been to the Melting Pot 3 times and my wife and I love it. It is a little expensive (about $60 per couple) but the price I mentioned included, salad, main course, desert and tip for two. We did not purchase alcohole though. Service was freindly and it is a different kind of experience, candle light and very romantic. The food is great even though you cook it yourself. Cooking it yourself consists of sticking your food in a boiling pot, you don't have to work for it. The guy made a comment about cooking your food with other people, it's only people you are dining with, how do you think chef's cook, each individual meal in a different pan? Don't think so. Great place to eat for special times. I highly recommend.
