Delicious!!!!. I absolutely love Nagasaki Inn! It has a very cool retro '70s feel. Although its an older building it still is very kept up and clean. They have some of the freshest sushi I have ever eaten (and I eat tons of Japanese)! Their fried rice is also amazing.

I recommend it to anyone looking for a great date or party place.

Great Japanese food. I have to differ with the person who gave this restaurant a "so-so" review. First, a little history. This place opened as a George Lindsey's steakhouse in the late 60s. My family started eating there when it opened as Sachi Steakhouse in the early 70s. Here it is in the 2000s and this is my family's favorite place to eat, especially for special occasions. Their fried rice is absolutely the BEST. We have been to Japanese restaurants from Los Angeles to Boston and have not had a better meal than here. No other Japanese restaurant we have been to has the salad dressing that they serve here. I have dreamed about it. We have overheard visitors from Japan say that this is the most authentic Japanese food they have had in the States. We order our steaks medium-rare and they have always turned out great. That's because the chef has you try your individual steak before he serves it to make sure it is the way you like it. Candy has been there for almost as long as we have eaten there and I remember when Harold first started working there. I love my Nagasaki Steak House!

A Great Family Experience!. I went to the Nagasaki with my family as a kid, now I take my family there. It is one of the few places we can all agree to. The place is great for a date ,too. I have to echo the others that say MAKE RESERVATIONS! You may still wait a few minutes, but the wait is worth it. We pay about $50 when we are a couple, $150 as a family (incl bar drinks and tip)

So-so.. The food and service was average or a little below average. If all the people that have wrote reviews here think this is a five star restaurant then they need to take a trip to Kabuki Japanese House of Steak in Cary, NC and they will find Japanese food heaven. I probably will go back again if my yearning for Japanese food gets too great in between trips to see my grandchildren in Augusta, GA., but I will not be making weekly trips to a Japanese Steakhouse like I did when I lived in Cary, NC.

The best Japanese Steak House in Memphis. We've done 'em all, Shogun, Benihana (now gone, burned down), Kobe, etc ... and we still keep coming back to Nagasaki for the best tasting Japanese steak house in Memphis. This place is an institution (been at their location on Summer Ave over 25 years which is why they are located in a part of Memphis that alot of folks may not traffic regularly these days). Don't let looks deceive you (the grill hoods have ALWAYS needed a good cleaning ... the food is the best. Gotta get the fried rice! Usual entertaining chefs (turn the fileted shrimp into 'Japanese bunny rabbit') and yes, they do the flaming grill trick (sake as 'Japanese gasoline').

But it all comes down to the food. Which is great.

Be sure to get a coupon out of the Friday paper (or show a FedEx badge, or get a coupon out of any of the Memphis coupon books) to make the $18 entree price more digestable.
