I have looked through the years for someone who could color my hair like I want it. Ted Cortese, owner of DiVa Studio, is the only one that has been able to this. When I go there (every 4 weeks), he asked me did I like what he did last time and do I want to change anything. He has a beautiful salon and everyone there is courteous and professional.

I drive 1.5 hours to get my hair done here -- so worth it!!. I can't believe how much I love my hair! In the past, at other salons, I have found that even with a decent haircut I leave the salon needing to style the hair myself to get it to look the way I want. For the first time in my life, I left a salon loving everything about my hair -- cut, color, styling, everything!! I have dark, naturally curly hair which apparently makes it tricky to do anything special with my hair, such as adding highlights or lowlights. Every time I tried this in the past, I would end up leaving with my hair just looking faded and frizzy. But I left diVa last week with my hair a dark chocolate brown with rich caramel highlights. Everyone is telling me how great my hair looks. And I love it too! Finally, I get to be one of those people who leaves a salon feeling like a million dollars! Ted is the best!! On another note, I have to say that everyone at diVa was so incredibly nice. I had to cancel an appointment on the day I was originally scheduled to come in because I was sick. Kendy (sp?) was so nice and so understanding and seemed genuinely concerned with hoping that I felt better. In general, diVa is a salon of the highest caliber, staffed by some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. And Ted is, in short, a genius!

Very Pleasing Experience. My experience with Diva Colour Studio today was wonderful. The staff was very professional and friendly. The owner Ted was a miracle worker with my hair. The cut and colour is perfect, I've been receiving compliments from everyone. I intend to continue to use them, and I would recommend them to my family and friends. Always a Great Experience. I have been going to Ted for about 5 years now and have always walked out of the salon feeling great! Ted is a Master of colour and never has my hair looked bad or felt like I have had colour put on it. Also, the haircut is is superior. I don't have a lot of time to fool around with my hair in the mornings and all I have to do is brush, a little blow dry and shake and it just naturally falls into place. I would recommend Diva and Ted to anyone who needs to get back on track to beautiful hair.

Horrible experience. 2nd worst experience of my life! I'm very surprised by the other comments. Like several other reviewers, I tried several places after moving to Memphis but was unhappy with all of them. I saw a magazine article about diVa and followed up with some online research. My first experience was okay - the color was okay but was very disappointed in the cut. I tried to tell Ted what I wanted but he kept "shushing" me while he worked his 'canvas.' It was not horrible but wasn't what I wanted and he tried to do some touch ups once I had a chance to speak but it was too late for everything. I went back a 2nd time with the intent to be more clear about what kind of cut I prefer. He listened but I'm not sure he heard. I have shoulder length hair and I'm still trying to grow out the 3 inch pieces he cut at my crown. But the absolute worst was the color - 2nd worst hair experience I have ever had!!!! Without discussing he gave me all over color (which I hate because you have to get redone more frequently) and the color was 5 shades darker!!!! This was never discussed! He just did it and by the time I realized it was too late! I'm glad everyone else is having good experiences but I strongly caution to discuss his intentions before turning him loose on a new "canvas."

Best Color I Have Ever Had!. When I moved to Memphis I went to at least 8 salons looking for natural looking highlights. Everywhere I went I got brass or white streaks. When I found Diva I was thrilled! I have been going there for five years now and every time I walk out I am extremely satisfied. People always complement the healthy look of my hair - it is long and get color every few months - so that says a lot about the care they take to keep the hair in good shape. If you are looking for good color they really are the best!

Highly recommended!. I just colored my hair for the first time and I must say it was GREAT. I was really afraid to do it and Ted explained everything he was going to do to make me feel more comfortable. He even has special lighting so he can see the colors more effeciently. I originally went to Diva to get a color analysis. I was telling them that I had just gotten a terrible haircut. While I was there Ted was able to fix it! He has been cutting hair for a long time and he really knows what he is doing. My husband even noticed what a nice shape my naturally wavy hair has now. Teds experienced hands took control of my hair and whipped it into shape! He really knows how to bring out the "diva" within. I highly recommend it!!

Diva is by far the best salon!. I have been going to Ted at Diva for several years. Ted and his staff are personable and professional. I absolutely LOVE the results...every time! I leave the salon looking and feeling great and I get compliments all the time on my cut/color.

Fantastic!. The owner, Ted, is an artist and individualizes his craft to whatever "canvas" he is painting. No cookie-cutter experience at Diva. His staff is in sync with his goal for each client, and I leave there very pleased with my color/cut every time.
