Tips for Tom's Barbecue & Deli

October 18, 2012

If you are in Memphis and want ribs, you definitely want to go to Tom's. Excellent food, especially the rib tips, featured on Triple D. Friendly service, reasonably priced. The owner Adam continually checked on me and others in the dining area to ensure we were satisfied.

Best BBQ. We have eaten BBQ all over the USA and this was far and away the best I've ever tasted. We visited twice on our vacation passing through Memphis. Sampled ribs, tips, brisket, pulled pork, and catfish. Everything was outstanding! And the people that work there are amazing! Don't know what you want...leave it to the pros....you won't be disappointed! Thanks Adam, you made our day!!!

Our Favorite. We traveled to Memphis with the idea in mind to try some of the more favorably reviewed bar-b-que 'joints' in town.

Amoung the one's we had a chance to sample, Tom's was our favorite.

Adam, the owner, and the entire crew were super friendly. (We returned three times and were treated like old friends after our intial visit.)

The service was fast no matter how busy the counter at the time of our visit.

Then there is the food.

Wow!

The rib tips were as good as advertised; tasty even without sauce. MmmMmm!

The Baby back ribs? Served dry and again, tasty even without sauce. Just great! The pulled pork sandwich? The best we have ever had. Hands down.!

The atmosphere at Tom's is decidedly casual but the place is certainly clean and the neighborhood non-threatening.

We don't claim to be culinary experts by any means but we do highly recommend Tom's as a great place to eat!

Tom's Barbecue and Deli. I am shocked to be the first writing a review on this establishment, especially after seeing them spotlighted on Diner, Drive-ins, and Dives. We had visited Neely's and Cozy Corner and by the time we made it to Tom's we were praying for a miracle to save our tastebuds from the pergatory of so-so barbecue. Well TOM's is the BOMB! First we noticed while on Getwell at the innersection to the restuarant we could smell the smoked meats before making the turn 70yds away to the restaraunt. Second of all prior to coming we were shocked at the prices on the website that they were SO CHEAP, well thanks to certain economic conditions the prices had gone up but litterally cents and you got your monies worth. Thirdly the taste and portions of food were enough to border gluttonious indulging.

If you are a que-ologist, I am telling you TOM's is worth your time, tastebuds and money. SO FAR FOR ME...TOM's HAS THE BEST QUE in Memphis! And we tried 5 barbeuce restaraunts in 28hrs. They serve a different cut of rib tip that was good with or without sauce. I personally like dry rubs better to see the culinary skill of the seasoner, because otherwise you just suckin down meat soaked sauce. That takes very little if any skill at all to pour sauce over half or under seasoned meat.

Remember before there was sauce, there was meat and seasonings (herbs), and we owe it God to enjoy what He has provided before we start pouring sticky all over it and drowning out the best part....the flavor.
