Theatre Memphis

One of the nicest community theaters anywhere.. The Scene:
Rapidly approaching its 80th anniversary season, Theatre Memphis is a strong, widely revered community theater that has weathered some ups and downs in recent years. At press time, the East Memphis venue was without an executive director; however, first-rate theatrical productions such as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" were still wowing audiences with the kind of creative sets, colorful costumes, and spirited acting and musical numbers patrons have come to expect from this outstanding arts organization. The facility includes a large, comfortable auditorium with all the bells and whistles needed to stage first-class productions, as well as a smaller, black-box theater where more contemporary (even controversial) productions are presented. Centrally located in a lush neighborhood near the Memphis Botanic Gardens and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, Theater Memphis is an inviting venue that has become popular with audiences of all ages.
