Good steak. Steak was cooked well. Great service. Good desserts. Loved the specials. Website was user friendly. Would recommend it, best steak in Memphis.

Slightly overrated. The steaks are good, and the rest of the food is okay too. The waitresses are all older than God, and rather cavalier about the service they provide. Still it's somewhat overpriced, but would be worth it if they lived up to the price. But the people of Memphis (generally speaking) are unsophisticated regarding restaurants, and they have no idea what fine dining is. Hell, they think Red Lobster is the best seafood in town. Is that sad or what?

It's BACK!!!. I read the posted reviews and it seemed like there was not a consensus. But I went because I love steak. It was as good as anything I have EVER eaten. cooked perfectly, very pleasant staff, unique suroundings (it's in an old house). From the dates of the other reviews posted I think it's time that everyone go back...they were proudly displaying all of the awards they won last month from the two leading magazines in town, the place was PACKED, but still accomodated me without delay. It had energy but was not too noisy for conversation. Whatever transition they went thru, it's over. This is truly one of the top steakhouses in the country...I've lived in 12 cities...this is where I now ship out my gifts from.

Folly Experience. I have been dining at Folk's Folly for the last 11 years with my family. I recently had dinner there and had probably the best experience ever! The service was outstanding and the staff could not have been more fantastic ....from the great greetings from the guys outside to the smiling faces at the front door. I've noticed a remarkable improvement with the consistancy and overall service! Keep up the good work!

great change. I've noticed a DEFINITE improvement in food and service since Thomas Boggs (who also owns Hueys) purchased this restaurant from the original owners. On a recent visit I tried Crab cakes which were GREAT and had a perfectly cooked filet (oh and a PERFECT Dirty Martini...). Prices are still high...but not any higher than other Steak Houses of this genre. Just wish I could afford to go more often!

Memphis' only prime steak house offers a cozy setting to consume big hunks of butterknife-tender beef and fresh seafood.. The Scene

Humphrey Folk was a local contractor who longed for a good steak house and did something about it. His Folly occupies a renovated house where couples can hold hands in private alcoves or groups can gather in front of the fireplace in the main dining room. Longtime staff know diners by name and a newsletter makes customers feel like part of a large extended family.

The Food

The portions of the USDA pime beef, veal, lamb, chicken and seafood are enormous. The 28-ounce porterhouse challenges the biggest beef lovers while the petite (a measly seven ounces) is a more modest choice. The deliciously tender steaks come hot off the grill with parsley butter bubbling atop the meat. Seafood entrees change with the tide, but mouthwatering king crab legs and the enormous lobster are regular features.

It is not the best STEAK in town!!!!. we ate there because of the ratings it had received, but found out they did not live up to those standards. We ordered our steaks "medium / medium rare", but they came back charred on the outside and red on the inside. The service was lacking for those prices also. I found Side Porch to have fabulous steaks at less than half the price of Folly's. If these guys can stay in business all these years and serve bad steaks at their prices, then there is a chance for all of us to open a restaurant and succeed.
