Editorial Review for Buntyn Cafe – by Michele McCole Moss and Linda Romine
The Scene
Since 1927 this old Southern cafe has dished up heaping plates of comfort food. Though a move was required to accommodate the ever-growing customer base (original customers are now grandparents or great-grandparents) the restaurant never missed a beat. The seasoned staff always delivers with fast and friendly service.
The Food
Be sure not to fill up on the basket of amazing fluffy rolls and crumbly sweet cornbread--entree portions are large and the food is filling. Creamy macaroni and cheese comes with a perfect crust of cheese, crisp from baking under the broiler. Tangy turnip greens taste delicious with just a splash of hot sauce. Luscious, crisp-fried chicken is a testament to Southern cooking. Still have room? A dish of the incredible banana pudding will put a smile on your face.

There is nothing quite like the taste of classic home cooked food, and that's what makes Buntyn cafe so special. Buntyn has been a Memphis mainstay for many years serving home goodies like Chinken & Dressing to their Homemade Rolls, and Homemade Desserts like their Chocolate Mirange Pie. If you love old fashioned home cooking I would highly recommend the Buntyn Cafe.
Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly service, Family owned
