Facts
Large stone animals greet visitors at the entrance to the Memphis Zoo--that's just a glimpse of what the 70 acres beyond hold in store. Inside, flower-lined paved walkways wind past shade trees. The exhibits are landscaped to mimic the animals' natural habitats. You won't find any bars at this world-class zoo.
Features
Cat Country has jaguars, leopards and tigers. Want to meet the king of the cobras or monkey around in Primate Canyon? A seasonal butterfly house shows off 40 species of the winged beauties while Once Upon a Farm displays the animals and buildings you'd find on a 19th-century farm. Visit Dragon's Lair and discover they're not just creatures of lore. A somewhat unusual feature of the zoo is its aquarium. This underwater world features seahorses, catfish and tropical fish.

For generations, going to the zoo, with parents, grandparents, or you class from school has always been a delight!

The Memphis Zoo offers family entertainment and a full day of enjoyment. It is a relatively inexpensive way to learn and teach our children about animals from all over the world. There are many opportunities throughout the year to see unique and unusual creatures as well as the "common" animals we come to expect to view at any zoo. Memphis' Zoo shed new light and charm on specific species with their Cat Country & Primate Canyon natural habitats, the Barnyard, Herpetarium, Aquarium, and now the Panda exhibit. Bravo!

The zoo is my favorite place in Memphis. There is always something new to discover. The way the children look when they see their favorite exhibit is the best. When their eyes light up and you know that moment is the highlight of their day.
