The Scene
The neighborhood's a little run down and the booths might be cracked, but if you're looking for incredible barbecue in unpretentious surroundings this just may be the best spot in the city. For a real Memphis barbecue experience, go with a group of friends for lunch when the place is bustling with enthusiastic 'cue lovers.
The Food
The popular ribs are slow-roasted for hours and so tender the meat falls off with a push of the finger. Even more popular, however, are the pulled pork sandwiches. Thick shreds of pork in Jim Neely's famous sauce are piled high atop a white bread bun. More delicious barbecued pork is tossed with pasta and the sauce for the barbecued spaghetti, a delicious culinary oddity. Fried bologna, sausage and chicken are also available. Finish with a miniature pecan pie.

I have eaten about 4 times at the Neeleys off the interstate going to Olive Branch, Miss. The people were nice there and the food was great. I guess it is in Desoto county?? HOWEVER, for the first (and last time) I went to the one in Memphis and the employees were so nasty and rude that I will NEVER eat there again. There were 2 women at the register who acted like I didnt exist, and then another woman ( alittle older maybe in her late 60's) who finally told me where to go to order was the biggest B **** you would ever see in any restaurant. I still for the life of me am trying to figure out why these people were so hateful and rude. But they were!! I love the pulled pork the best. That day when they were so hateful, they gave me the wrong type ribs, but they tasted good. All in all, I will never set 1 foot back in the Memphis location. The beans and potato salad are very good! My favorite is the pulled pork. Like I said, the employees make you NEVER want to eat there again!! I hope the owners read this but then again it probably wont do any good.
Pros: great food
Cons: rude, hateful employees

Went in for early lunch - waited in line to be seated, employee comes up, flips sign that says "seat yourself" with nary a word. we seated ourselves... waited forever for menus which were thrown at us, waited forever for drink orders to be taken and then served, again for order to be taken,,,,,,,, but surprise! the food came out reasonable quickly by someone other than our "server". we asked for catsup and hot sauce which never came. we got up and borrowed some from other patrons. food was fine but service ruined the experience. we waited forever for a bill, then waited at the register forever to finally be told that register was closed .. we paid in the takeout (i guess) area. too much bbq in memphis to put up with this kind of service. stay away... go to Rendezvous, Central BBQ, The Commissary... anywhere else. Trust me.
Pros: Food
Cons: Service, lack of friendliness, location (too hard to get to, not worth the trip)
