Playhouse On The Square

The only professional Equity theater company in Memphis, POTS is a vital part of the city's arts community.. The Scene:
Led by a half dozen resident actors and actresses and a full-time artistic staff, Playhouse on the Square (POTS for short) presents dozens of outstanding productions year-round; it also operates a smaller sister company, Circuit Playhouse, a few blocks away at 1705 Poplar. Musicals, like "Smoke on the Mountain" and "Always?Patsy Cline," kick off each summer, followed by more meaty murder mysteries at Halloween and top Broadway draws such as "Angels in America." Bargain lovers can look forward to the venue's popular "Pay-What-You-Can" night performances, as well as seasonal favorites such as "Peter Pan," "A Tuna Christmas," and "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." Several well-known stars of stage and screen, such as Michael Jeter, have gotten their start here.
