I moved to Memphis last year from Washington DC and did not know what to expect from stylists in the South. Being bi-racial and maintaining a short, naturally curly style, I had a really difficult
time finding a happy medium. I usually avoid African-American owned salons as they always want to perm my hair and often don't know how to manage my natural curls. The problem that I encounter with Caucasian owned salons though is that they often get overwhelmed with my tight curls.
I went to about three different salons in Memphis and they butchered me. Finally, I came across Cloud 9 and have found my hair heaven!
Rebecca is so fantastic with short cuts and Angela understands bi-racial hair so the two of them together work wonders on my style. And I love the Brazilian Keritan Treatments (pricey but worth it) and the LSB hair putty - it makes my hair super, super shiny. I will never og anywhere else as long as I am in Memphis.…
Lambeth was GREAT!. Being a newcomer to the city of Memphis I have been looking for a while to find a place where I could go get my hair cut. I have been looking since right after Christmas and have had one bad experience with a salon WHOM I WILL NOT NAME. I ran across a matchbook with their phone number on it and gave them a call seing as how there was no way in hell i was going back to the last place I had the DISSpleasure of going to. When i called the first time I didn't recieve an answer, but i waited about fifteen minutes and gave it a second try and Andrea (can't remember if that's correct) answered the phone and was MORE than polite, and willing to scedule me an appointment. I told her I could be there in fifteen minutes and she said I was on the books and could come on in. when I got there I was greeted warmly by the girl behind the counter and was aked to take a seat seeing as how i was early and the stylist was busy with her previous client. I waited about fifve or six minutes and was then taken to the chair and COMPLETELY catered to. The stylist (lambeth) asked me what I wanted to have done and followed the directions TO A TEE! "And that aint easy given my untold amount of COW LICKS! LOL" i told her about my previous experience I had had with the other salon and was assured that I was not the first to have a bad experience. She kept the conversation flowing and made me completely comfortable wile in the shop. WHICH WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL DECORATED! Very rarely do you find both in the same location LOL! After she finished I paid the "gal" behind the counter and was on my way. Getting out of the parking lot was a little tough, but given the professional service I recieved in the shop I did not mind. I would recomend this shop a million times over and would let anyone who is in the area know that Lambeth does a great job!…
WOW. I called at about 4:15 on a Saturday afternoon and she was able to work me in. Then, I got there and had no idea what I wanted. She was able to create a look that I love and I get constant compliments!!! And, I had fun the whole time I was there. What a great place!!!!!…
cloud 9 should not design. Worst Salon Experience. No customer service. No skills. WAY OVER-RATED!!! I found this salon on here on city search, and read how fabulous it is. My experience, however tells a different story. The woman who answered the phone was abrasive from the beginning. I asked for Amber who I read so many reviews about, and was told she no longer worked there, but they would "take care of me". I fell for it and made an appointment. Forget the parking, the service was lacking. The owner seemed rude and scary. It was dark and desolate, and I didn't feel like we were on the same page! well I should have spoke up, because I paid 200 bucks for an uneven boring haircut, and bleached out highlights. what a nightmare. Trust ME! You don't want to waste your money or time here!!!!!…
