Good Place to Go. The burgers at Huey's are good, but I prefer Dyer's more. However, The atmosphere at Huey's can't be beat. It should appeal to just about all types
Bad Service. Service at Hueys (all Memphis locations) is unbelievably bad. Two examples: 1) At the one on G'town road in Cordova - major breaking news story..people were going to restaurants just to watch the events on tv...employees wouldn't turn the tv on to what everyone wanted to see because "only the manager can turn the tv". Needless to say everyone left. 2) At the one in Midtown - A group of twelve unable to get Hueys to push tables together. "It's against policy". Once again, we left. I've eaten at Hueys twice in the last year and both times the food was awful.
This graffiti-stained hometown treasure serves the city's best burgers with crispy baskets of fries..
The Scene
The decor is the ultimate in casual. Over the years diners have carved their initials, drawn pictures and slapped photos on the walls. Not an artist, but have excellent aim? Customers are encouraged to shoot toothpicks at the ceiling through a straw. This family-run burger joint is the perfect place to gather with friends and unwind from a hectic day. Get here early or you'll have to wait. It's well worth the effort.
The Food
The burgers are big and juicy and come in a handful of varieties, like the West Coast with guacamole and Monterey Jack to the Senor Huey smothered in zippy jalepeno cheese. Generous baskets of golden fries or the hand-breaded onion rings are the perfect accompaniment along with a cold beer. Homemade potato soup, salads and sandwiches round out the very affordable menu.
Huey's. First the burgers and ambiance are great. But, the music is too loud. I dont get it. The place is set up as a restaurant/bar. It would be a great place to meet people. The only problem is you can't even hear the waiter take your order! Im going there tonight I love the place. But, I'm bringing earplugs.
Huey's is awesome!!!!!. This is a fantastic burger and the environment is great...eat a good burger, sign the wall, try to get your toothpick to stick into the ceiling. A lot a fun and good food to boot.
The best. I alwasy enjoy eating at Huey's when I venture to Memphis from Greenwood. Great atmosphere along with great eats.
mui calente`. This is the best burger in Memphis. A must whenever you are in the mood for a big old greasy burger.
Best d@mn Burgers. It's a Memphis Tradition! I used to eat there all the time when I went to Imaculate Conception. My personal favorite: the West Coast Burger- Montrey Jack, Guac etc on a whole wheat bun... superb!
overrated. Go to Ernestine and Hazels. The smell of worsteshire will knock you down as you hit the door. A greasy masterpiece! Also, Dyers on Beale. what can you say about a place that uses grease that is close to 90 years old?? Bizarre...but better that a Big Kahuna burger. Right Samual L. Jackson? As to Huey's? Sold-out to the franchise bug a long time ago and by doing so, quality has suffered. There was a time though....
