Editorial Review for Huey's – by Michele McCole Moss
The Scene
The decor is the ultimate in casual. Over the years diners have carved their initials, drawn pictures and slapped photos on the walls. Not an artist, but have excellent aim? Customers are encouraged to shoot toothpicks at the ceiling through a straw. This family-run burger joint is the perfect place to gather with friends and unwind from a hectic day. Get here early or you'll have to wait. It's well worth the effort.
The Food
The burgers are big and juicy and come in a handful of varieties, like the West Coast with guacamole and Monterey Jack to the Senor Huey smothered in zippy jalepeno cheese. Generous baskets of golden fries or the hand-breaded onion rings are the perfect accompaniment along with a cold beer. Homemade potato soup, salads and sandwiches round out the very affordable menu.

Nothing like a Huey burger, basket of fries a cold Busch longneck! I was born and raised in the Memphis area and consumed many of the mentioned products and stop at Hueys every time I'm in town. It's definitely the best burger in Memphis and the second best burger I've ever eaten. You'd have to go to Port of Call in New Orleans for a better burger

Really great burgers--always. Red beans and rice good too. Bottomless tea and soft drinks. Cute ambience, but the toothpicks in the ceilings are tacky--one fell in my plate once, and I asked for and got a replacement meal, but you hate to be on guard for falling toothpicks.
Pros: Good food, fun atmosphere
Cons: Those damn toothpicks
