The P&H proudly lives up to its billing as "The Beer Joint of Your Dreams.".
The Scene:
The 'P' stands for poor, and the 'H' is for hungry. OK? If you've ever been both of those things, then you'll appreciate the cheap hospitality afforded at flamboyant proprietor Wanda Wilson's one-of-a-kind dive known as the P&H Cafe. To say this small, run-down Midtown landmark has become a Memphis institution would be a gross understatement. The beloved P&H is small, it's smoky, and it's usually filled with barflies, eccentrics, actors, musicians, academics, and other artsy and/or bohemian types. The company is good, the beer is cold, and the cheeseburgers are satisfying. For evidence of the place's unique popularity, check out the pictures and artwork on Wanda's walls, or simply ask anyone in town: any mention of the P&H is sure to bring a smile and nod of the head from locals.
Must Have Drinks:
Beer, Beer, Beer.
