The Scene
Inside Downtown's Peabody Hotel, this mirror-walled nook serves as a gathering spot for ladies and gents to coo over rich coffee and desserts. Plants and wicker chairs help warm the room against white-tiled walls. Noises tinker throughout the cool, softly lit space. With a view of Third Street, sweet-toothed sophisticates can watch the bustling streets of downtown Memphis.
The Food
There is a selection of upscale deli sandwiches and other cold foods, but pastries, ice cream and other confections are the real reason to go. Intoxicating desserts and homemade ice crea await sweet-toothed patrons. Hazelnut dacquiose, a delicious confection of hazelnut meringue layered between buttercream and chocolate ganache, is heavenly. The white-chocolate charlotte melds fluffy mousse with melt-in-your-mouth ladyfingers and dark chocolate cake. Cool down with hefty servings of homemade ice cream--vanilla bean, chocolate or strawberry--best smothered in hot fudge.
