Butcher Shop is a great Steak House where friends can meet for a great dinner.
I not only had wonderful food, but a great waitstaff as well. As a matter of fact I enjoyed it so well I had our last Patriots Day Gala there, and will have it again there in 2008.
As the National Chairman for the Defenders of Freedom , I tell everyone about the Butcher Shop.

Diners choose a filet and grill it to their liking at this do-it-yourself barbecue..
In Short
Dark woods, white tablecloths and the aroma of sizzling meat greet customers. Patrons can grill their dinner over hickory briquettes on a pit barbecue or let the chef cook it. The dining room grills are large enough to accommodate big groups. Steak choices vary from eight to 24 ounces and include tenderloin, T-bone, rib eye and New York and Kansas City strips. The kitchen also prepares chicken and seafood. Dessert options include a house-made cheesecake.

awesome steaks, awesome service.
I think it's funny to read the above review about undercooked steaks and having to sweeten your own tea---I just picture one of those customers that orders well-done rubber steaks, and if it doesn't look like someone threw their steak out in the street and backed over it with a car...it's undercooked. And every fine dining restaurant I've ever been to....well, you always have to sweeten your own tea. This is the Butcher Shop after all...not Burger King. Get the large filet, it's like 4 bucks more for almost double the meat, and you can take home what you don't eat...order it medium rare and get the twiced baked potato. Also, the spinach artichoke dip is FABULOUS..........yum. Awesome food at a fair price. We loved our server too.

Great Choice.
While Butcher Shop is not my absolute FAVORITE place to get a steak (that would be Ruth's Chris followed closely by Folks Folly) - it *is* a great place to eat. The steak is wonderful, but what I really like are the cheesy potatoes. It's like gluttony heaven in a dish!
It's a little hot right now, but the patio is really pretty and the Cosmopolitans are good too. Give the Butcher Shop a try!!!

Good Steak, very good service.
We recently moved to Memphis from Chicago and we do not expect the resturant scene to compete with Chicago - seems many people like to compare Memphis with large cities across the nation - the Butcher Shop was a pleasant surprise and we had a very nice dinner. The service was excellent, the seating was comfortable (booth) and the atmosphere was typical of a restaurant known mostly for their steaks - not quiet but not overbearing.
My wife enjoyed the salmon and I had a filet. Both were prepared according to our instructions and both were very tasty. The filet had a very good flavor, not overcooked and it was very tender. The salmon was grilled to my wifes specs - and she can be very demanding with her fish! The side dishes were excellent - we had various veggies - and were not over-cooked to tough, as sometimes can be the case.
We enjoyed our experience there and will go back. We would likely take out-of-town guests who are steak fans. It would be a very good steak without breaking the bank!

Not Impressed!!.
They are over priced for what they are. My steak was under cooked. They have NO fries and you have to sweeten your tea yourself. Service was good though...

Great Steaks!.
Great steak house, great value. Highly recommended. I have had several large office parties there, and they have always been able to accomodate a private room.
