Olympic Fitness went back on their word. In 2006 I signed a 2 year contract with Olympic Fitness on Goodman Rd. in Southhaven MS. I paid on time every month. In February of 2007, I spoke to a woman in the office to let her know that I was moving back to New England because I wasn't able to find a job within a 30 mile radius of my daughter's where I was staying in Horn Lake. The woman told me no problem, that if I sent them a letter stating I was moving to New England and no longer in the area to complete the contract, that I would no longer be responsible for the balance of the contract, and that they would release me from the contract. I sent that letter trusting they would keep their end of the agreement. Here it is, 2011, I am trying to buy a home in MA and $1972 collections pops up on my credit report. They refuse to delete this from my credit report. Thumbs down all the way for them. They went back on their word to me and have significantly lowered my credit score because of this.

As far as their facilities are concerned, it wasn't clean and no help with equipment was available.

Nobody to help. Well when I first joined the gym I asked the owner did they have trainers to assist me with the equipment and he said theyhad plenty but after I signed my 2year contract there was only one guy who just tried to avoid u so u wouldn't ask him questions about the equipment.I am a woman and I had the hardest time using the equipment for my arms and legs so I just stop going and continued to pay my monthly fee.

Would Not Recommend. My biggest complaint is that you NEVER see anyone cleaning the equipment... Nor are cleaning supplies made available for the customer to use. If it was there, I would clean it myself. Half of the cardio equipment is broken. Very disappointing. How can you expect to workout in a facility that doesn't even have working equipment. The employees are primarily teenagers who have no clue what customer service means. They will hound you about making payments even before your payment is due & even if you have never been late or missed a payment.

This gym needs a serious overhaul... Management being priority one! I'm pretty sure the rest will fix itself when there's proper & professional management in place.

New owners are great!!. This is one of the best workout places in Desoto County... they have great group fitness classes..and the new owners are great!! The previous reviews (june07-Jan 08) reflect the old owners. The new owners are wonderful and have great customer service. They also have a great price that is affordable and has not gone up like some of the other gyms in this area. They have a great water aerobics program and really good Spinning classes. Also, they have added Zumba, a great fitness workout that uses Latin dance moves to tone and sculpt and give you a great cardio workout. They have 4 lines of equipment and the largest selection fo free weights around. This gym has been in the Southaven for almost 25 years and has with stood the test of time. It has a great family atmosphere and really caters to all age groups and fitness levels. Go see for your self what this icon of Desoto County has to offer...

Best selection of equipment in North Mississippi!!!. If you are a body builder..this gym is for you!! They have 4 lines of equipment and the largest selection of free weights in Desoto County. They are under new management and the customer service has improved 100%. The previous reviews from Jan07-June 08 reflect the old management. The new owners not only are very good business people with over 20 years experience in the fitness industry, but they are body builders themselves and know what body builders want.They also have Zumba, Spinning, and a variety of group fitness classes. In addition, unlike the other gyms in the area, they have not gone up on their prices and work very hard to keep the members they have. I have been in the fitness industry my self for over 20 years, and in my opinion, this is the best gym in Desoto County, maybe even North Mississippi.

olympic under new ownership. it is now under new ownership . the guy that ran it for the first 10 years or so when it was great bought the club. i rejoined after being away for a few years because it had gotten bad. now has 5 lines of equipment and great freeweight area. he got rid of old staff that were horrible.

The worst gym ever..... I moved from Mississippi to Oregon. That is 2400 miles from the gym. I've heard stories about how people still have to pay for this gym even if they moved out of state. I decided to save my time and energy and to keep paying them. Here in Oregon I closed my Mississippi account and called the gym 10 times to let them know. Nobody ever called me back. Yet they charged me later a 30$ fee for not notifying them about the change!!!!

The gym is OK. That is until you face a problem and need their help. Nobody will ever care about you there. People, save your money and time!!!!!!!!

WOULD NOT REFUND MY MONEY EVEN THOUGH I PROVIDED A VALID MEDICAL REASON SUPPLIED TO THEM BY MY PHYSICIAN!!! THE CONTRACT STATED THAT IT WOULD TERMINATE ON GROUNDS OF A MEDICAL EXCUSE. BAD BUSINESS!!. THESE PEOPLE NOT ONLY HAVE POOR ACCOUNTING PRACTICES, BUT WILL RIP YOU OFF BIG TIME. THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY MEDICAL REASON AND WILL HOUND YOU UNTIL THEY GET THEIR (YOUR MONEY). CUSTOMER BEWARE!!!!

Buyer Beware Of This Gym. Do not give this company your credit card. On numerous occasions they ran the monthly charge through twice instead of once like they are authorized to do. One month they did that and also called me demanding that I immediately pay a past due balance when they had over charged me.

They also lied about the so called special I was offered. My "special" membership was not for the full use of all the facilities and also was a higher cost than the regular rate. They use dishonest practices to trick people into long term contracts. I am stuck paying an inflated membership cost for 3 years for a gym that will not accomodate my handicap. I cannot even use the facilities and they would not release me from the

3 year contract.

I would not recommend this gym to anyone.

Worst Gym Anywhere; They steal money from your bank account.. I signed a contract at this gym. I moved more than 50 miles away, which would null the contract. I contacted the gym, and they said they took care of it, and they kept deducting money from my account. I finally had to close my bank account and talk to the credit bureaus because they were trying to ruin my credit score. My advise is to never let any company, especially a gym, have your bank account information, although this gym requires it.
