Green Bamboo Vietnamese Restaurant. Being a real foodie, it is seldom that I go to a restaurant that doesn?t have at least a couple of good items on their menu that I can enjoy. However, I really had to eat those words when my wife and I had lunch a few weeks ago at the relatively new Green Bamboo Vietnamese restaurant. Our lunch was so bad that I went back the next week for dinner thinking that the real chef probably only worked at night. Boy, what a mistake! To simply say that food and service quality were poor would be the understatement of the year. The wait staff at lunch provided OK service but dinner service was virtually non-existent. The dinner waitress took our order and did not come back to our table for over 35 minutes, until I flagged her down. Mostly, she stayed in the back with the cook, apparently telling jokes, because all we heard for over 30 minutes was her shrill laughter coming out of the kitchen. Finally she brought our food. It took only one bite to realize that I was condemned to eat the worst S.E. Asian food I have had in many years. As I could write a book on the incredibly poor quality of their food, suffice it to say the following: The food flavor was bad, bad, bad. The portion size was incredibly small. All food was grossly overcooked. And to add insult to injury, prices were exorbitant. For instance, an expensive $12.95 shrimp and vegetable dish only had 4 nickel size overcooked shrimp in it. A crispy, steamed vegetable dish ordered by my wife was served as a limp, tasteless mess. Nuff said? In a nut shell, if you are looking for really good S.E. Asian food, don't waste your time and money at the Green Bamboo. It falls far short of the excellent Vietnamese food and service available at either the Lotus or Saigon Le.
