Tips for Mid-South U-Pull-It Auto Parts

July 11, 2012

Overall this is a good operation but there are a few things you should know going in. No one under 16 - NO EXCEPTIONS!. All gas tanks are drilled out. They do not sell cats. They are also not much for wheels or tires. They do not allow torches or jacks. The lot is graveled so bring a work mat if you are going to do any low work or plan on finding a trunk mat or cut a piece of carpet.. They loan out gantry cranes with chain hoists for pulling engines. You must bring your own tools - no loaner tools. The do give you a wheel barrel to cart your tools and parts around. Very deep selection, much better truck inventory than any other yard in the area. Prices are reasonable if you make it easy for them to know you are showing everything you picked up. These types of yards view the taking of smaller parts by putting them in your tool bag as shoplifting which it is. Show them the small stuff and you will probably get most of it for free if you are buying at least some larger item. Another reviewer complains about racial slurs. I have never heard any and it is a very integrated work force and customer base. I have been there a half dozen times in the past two years and I would be very surprised to hear slurs used there.

Prices are very high. Took my tools thinking how much money I was going to save. Paid 4 dollars before I could get in for me and a friend (2.00 each). Came back with a coil and 4 plug wires. It came to 32.00 before tax so I asked how much for the 4 used plug wires he said 1.00 each and 28.00 for the coil. I said they are cheaper on Ebay and I was not going to pay for the item. As I was walking out the door another older man said I should not have taking it off if I was not going to buy it in a very stern voice. And not to do it again. I did not say anything in fact he made me feel kind of guilty as I was leaving but the more I thought about it the madder I became. I had just paid 4.00 worked over an hour walking to the back the finding and taking off the part I needed. For him to treat me like I was the bad guy was wrong. They just made 4.00 for nothing and I still need this part. And i thought i was going to save money buying used auto parts,.. BOLOGNA!! im just going to spend a few buks more and get a brand new part. Yep, im carrying my business elsewhere.

Buyer beware of unethical practices. Would give them a negative star if possible. Attempted to return a defective transmission within the warranty period and was told that it was not theirs. I had my receipt and the trans was clearly marked with their markings. I had to call police to get my money back and manager told me I couldn't come back on lot. As if I would want to shop there again.

Could be a good business. On the surface they are friendly and inviting. One day I overheard one of the female employees with short hair using a racial slurs (the N word) I knew she was an employee because I saw her go back into the office area she was saying something about a customer on the junkyard and that isn't the first time I've heard it being used by someone in this business. I vowed to never return and I didn't. I don't give my business to people like that and you shouldn't either.

very organized, huge place, lots of good parts, wear your boots.. u-pull it was very organized, they have a huge inventory and they can tell you right where anything is. the only problem i had with them was i could'nt get anyone to give me a price on what i was looking for on the front end. its a very large place and running back and forth to the office could wear you out. also wear your boots when you go cause the rocks are a little rough on sneakers.
