Save yourself some trouble and rent with another company.
I had my worst experience renting a car with Enterprise at Memphis airport. The manager, Mr. Kyle Shultz, has set his own most unreasonable rules and does not respect Enterprise rules and regulations or the industry norms! He does not take responsibility for the problems that the customers will have because of his unreasonable rules. As a university professor, I recommend that you simply save yourself some trouble and book with another company. Below I discuss my horrible experience renting a car from this location.
I booked a compact car with Enterprise, because I had just sold my car that day and needed a car for a few days. When I went there to pick up the car, they asked that I needed to have comprehensive coverage insurance from an insurance company. I told them that my credit card company provides me with comprehensive coverage and I also had liability insurance. Moreover, I was willing to purchase comprehensive insurance from Enterprise. For your information, I have a clean driving history (no tickets, accidents, or claims in the past 8 years) and I told them that he could easily verify this information through my insurance company. I travel frequently and rent cars at different locations and this was the first time that I heard such a rule!
I even suggested to the store manager—Mr. Kyle Shultz—that we call Enterprise customer services and/or sales department and ask if Enterprise have such a rule for renting a car. Again, the manager refused and to my surprise he said:
“I DO NOT CARE ABOUT ENTERPRISE RULES, I SET MY OWN RULES.”
I told him then why do you carry Enterprise name and sign if you don’t respect their terms and conditions! He simply gave me the phone number of his area manager, and obviously he knew that there was no chance of getting in touch with the area manager on a Saturday evening!
I am surprised that Enterprise has such a loose control over their franchises and that they allow for such behavior. While I was there I noticed that they had another problem with another customer. I told the store manager that I will write online reviews about my experience and that I will be fair.
This location and the management (and maybe Enterprise) are FAILURE! Mr. Shultz is one of the most unreasonable and uncaring service people I have dealt with. All he understands is his unreasonable self-made rules! Anyways, after all the trouble at this location, I booked another car with another company and it took me about 10 minutes to get the car without any trouble.
I have sent copies of this review to Enterprise Customer service, to the area manager—Mr. Jeremy Langston—and to the store manager—Mr. Kyle Schultz—and the other service person who was initially handling my case—Mr. Phillip Young.
Here is my recommendation to other customers: Simply book your cars somewhere else and save yourself some trouble.
