Personable, but I will NEVER go back. I came in as a new patient, work-in appt. This was on a Thursday, the weekend before 4th of July. I had fever, headache, chills, coughing.. I lay about the waiting room as other patients, clearly not in distress were seen first. I understand if you have an appointment you should be seen as close to on time as possible. I don't understand not having some sort of triage in place, so that your possibly infectious NEW patient doesn't infect others. But maybe that's a way to increase business & keep established patients coming back, expose them to sick patients as long as you can.. I was literally the last person seen that day, the front office staff had gone. He looked at my ears & throat, my temp was taken, told me I had the flu & I was given a sinus cocktail shot, sent home with rx for a zpak & cough medicine.

I did not improve over the weekend, in fact everything worsened. I wound up going to the ER in Southaven,on Monday July 4th, they ran tests, told me I never had the flu, I had pneumonia! I was started on oxygen, high dose anitbiotics, & kept for over 24 hrs. I have to say the care I received at the Baptist Desoto ER that day was phenomenal!! I know that ER has a bad reputation, & I have been a recipient of bad care there before, but this time it was amazing.

Bottom line: next time I will drive the addtional miles to Southaven & see my personal doctor there. I will NEVER go back to Cockrell & will advise family & friends to stay away as well.

If you can be there when he is. He's a great doctor if you can take off work to see him. His availability has decreased considerably over the years he has been in town. You usually have to see the nurse practitioners, who are great themselves. For some things, though, you want to see the doctor and to do that you have to be there during his very limited hours.

Best Dr I have ever been to.. Dr Cockrell is the best Dr I've ever been to. He actually listens to what you say, believes you, and cares.
