Best BBQ you will probably ever have.. Central BBQ has the best BBQ I've ever had at a restaurant. I've been before so I knew it was good, but my boyfriend and I decided that on our next trip to Memphis we would bring his parents. Three of us got regular pork sandwiches. I mean, it's hard to not get a pork sandwich at a Memphis BBQ place. Two of us got the mild sauce and I got the hot sauce. We all got slaw on the sandwich. My boyfriend got the pulled chicken sandwich with mild cause and slaw. For sides one of us got a quarter slab of ribs, I got the sausage, and one got greens. The sandwich was just perfect with a good amount of smoke and tenderness. It is pretty hard to pick up, but I like my BBQ messy. My boyfriend decided to just eat the chicken off the sandwich with a fork. The rest of us just dove in. I didn't have any of the chicken, but he said it was moist and smoky and great. The sausage was fantastic and I might try the sausage sandwich next time. It was smoked and very flavorful with a good crunch on the outside. The ribs fell off the bone. Actually when he picked them up a bone just fell off. I like my ribs that way so they were great as well. The greens were also very flavorful and tender. We didn't get a beer when we were there, but they have a good selection of drafts. One of my favorite things about coming to Memphis is getting to drink Ghost River beer. We don't have it anywhere in Nashville. I try to go to Central BBQ every time I go to Memphis, and that won't change anytime soon. I fully recommend you do the same!

Probably best BBQ in US!. My boyfriend and I were driving across country from CA to NC and a friend suggested we stopped at Central BBQ while in Memphis, TN. Totally worth it!!! We ordered dry rub ribs, dry rub wings and a pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich was good, but the ribs and wings were AMAZING!!! Loved them. I didn't even care that I was getting the food all over my face. I just wanted to enjoy them! I have recommended this place to everyone I know that is heading out to TN. I will make a point of it to go back for sure!!

Great for Vegetarians too!!!!. Central BBQ has the best BBQ portabella mushroom sandwich. I had it for the first time a few weeks ago and was just amazed. This sandwich is a must!!!!

Best ribs in town. I guess I should give the restaurant 4 stars because their sandwiches are just average, but their ribs are just so darn good that it makes up for the rest. If you like dry ribs, this is second to none I've ever been to. The sauce is good-not Interstate- but good. The sides are good as well, but I just keep going back to the fact that the ribs are to die for.

worst BBQ in town. Quite possibly the worst BBQ in town. I was very unimpressed by the new age yuppie atmosphere and the syrupy tomato paste that they called BBQ sauce. The service was equally poor whenever one of the employees spilled my beer and walked off without saying anything or refilling the beer. I give this place an F-.

THE BEST BBQ ON PLANET EARTH, FREE drink with college I.D.!!!!!!!. OK, here's the deal. I live in memphis. I moved here for dental school a few years ago. I eat BBQ more than anyone you know, just trust me on that. I have gone to virtually every BBQ restaurant in Memphis a dozen times (except for the ones that are horrible, but to be honest, it's hard to mess it up. I would rather have bad BBQ than a lot of other foods). Anyway, the BBQ at Central is outstanding. The sauces are absolutely fantastic. BBQ Chicken Nachos and regular BBQ nachos are both incredible. They often have live bands performing for free entertainment on the gigantic outdoor patio. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Central. It will cost you about $7-$10 per person, unless you want to go to heaven and have the ribs. I recommend half wet and half dry. The best of both worlds. Oh, and they often hand you the food before you can even get to a table. I swear they are that fast. Consistently. I will stop typing now because I could go on for hours. Everyone at my school, literally over 100 faithful customers, would agree completely with everything I wrote. Probably with even greater passion. If you want to have a great life... Have fun, pay your taxes, and eat at Central BBQ.

The BBQ Shop on Madison Ave is good also, but not quite an equal. If you decide to pass on BBQ go to Huey's on Madison for the perfect Midtown Memphis dining experience (chicken philly cheesesteak and steak fries!!!!). Peace!

The best BBQ in the best BBQ town in the country. Look, Memphis is arguably the best barbeque town in the world. Well, this is the best barbeque that I've had and I'm somewhat of a connoisseur, but no expert. They specialize in dry-rubbed and moked pork. However, do not let the smoked turkey pass you by. They have 4 to 5 home-made sauces from a very flavorful mustard sauce to a sharp vinegar-based sauce. To top all of this off, they make their own home-made potato chips with their signature dry rub seasoning sprinkled over them. I'm shocked this place has not been reveiwed.
