Editorial Review for Inn On Biltmore Estate – by Sue Ostermann-Lenz
The Scene
This luxury hotel, the only lodging available on the Biltmore Estate, opened in March 2001. Thankfully, it's not just a second-rate Biltmore copycat; architecturally, it's a more modern style that blends well into its surroundings. Sitting on a rhododendron- and azalea-covered hill just beyond the winery, the Inn primarily pulls in guests looking to enjoy the estate. A fireplace soars in the lobby, rocking chairs sit on the veranda and windows look out across the grounds to the mountains.
The Details
This 213-room hotel offers all that an outdoor enthusiast might appreciate: horseback riding, hiking or boating on the 8,000-acre estate, swimming in the outdoor pool and working out in the fitness center. Guests aiming for relaxation nestle down in the library, dine in the on-site restaurant, take carriage rides or simply enjoy the views.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoGuests enjoy the natural beauty of the Biltmore Estate, but access to the mansion, winery or gardens requires separate admission. Look for package deals on the web site that combine admission and lodging.
Save MoneyBuy yourself more time at the estate by visiting after 3pm; your admission is good for the following day as well. Just have your ticket validated before you leave.
Look GoodPractice your best manners: afternoon tea is served daily in the library at 2:30pm and 4pm. It includes finger sandwiches, pastries and breads.
